So, there's a song on the radio right now called "Best I Ever Had" by Gavin DeGraw. It's not a very unique song and it doesn't appear to be noticed by many, but for some reason I'm completely stuck on it. I am in a constant of either completely hating this song, or totally loving it.
Don't get me wrong, this song is very stupid. Sometimes I listen to it and all I hear is the negatives. There's Gavin's weird talking while singing, which completely stops the flow of the song. There's the lyrics which I think are trying to paint a picture of love in modern America through random phrase and trends but just come off as random and disjointed. Not to mention that they give they impression that Gavin forgot he was writing a love song halfway through. And this is supposed to be a love song, right? It seems like it at the start, but the chorus is so blatantly unromantic and towards the end Gavin says he doesn't even know this girl (if you've "had" her, you should probably know her, Gavin) making it hard to tell. This song makes no sense and just doesn't work with message it's trying to convey.
But, on the other hand, it so does. This disjointed lyrics may be weird, but they give of this rough, unpolished feel that I just adore. And the instrumentals of the song are so grand and epic that t the chorus just makes me want to raise my glass and sing along. I can't help be get all excited when he says "Hey Massachusetts" during the bridge. This song is over the top and ridiculous, but it is also a shameless, rowdy anthem and I completely lap it up.
Most of the time.
P.S
If you like reviews of pop song that are kind of like this but better, you should check out Todd In The Shadows because he actually knows what he's doing and I love him.

A Short Story. Tell Me What You Think.
I walked into the blindingly white room. Fluorescent lights
beamed down from the ceiling, reflecting in her eyes. She stared at me. I shut
the door.
“Today
was terrible.” I started.
“Well,
what did you expect?” She rolled her eyes. “It’s you.”
“I know,”
I sighed, “but-“
“But
what?” She cut me off. “Your life is bad because you screwed everything up.”
Her words didn’t sting like they used to. “The problem’s you, not everyone
else.”
“But
today they-“She scoffed.
“No one
can get through to you because you shut them out. People are sick of you. You
can’t blame them for ignoring you.”
“I just
want to start over!” I shouted. She looked back at me.
“And
don’t we all? What makes you so special?”
“I-“The
room was so small. It was odd that we both fit.
“Nothing
makes you special. You’re so pathetically average.” The words dripped off her
tongue, like venom. “You’re not brilliant. You’re not a genius. You’ll never
stand out above anyone else!” I struggled with the words.
“But
I’m trying!”
“You
can’t change who you are!” She spit out. “No matter what you try to do, you’ll
never be anything.” Her words were chewed.
“Why
not?” I whined.
“You’re
dumb. You’re lame. You’ll never be satisfied with anything. You’ll never be
happy with who you are.” I felt cut open, exposed. A smirk formed on her face.
“Everything bad that happens to you is because of who you are. You deserve
everything you feel. All those people, they feel the same way about you as you
do. You could change a million times, and you’ll still hate yourself!” Her
haughty laugh bounced off the walls.
“You’re
right.” I whispered to the mirror.

Piercings and Popularity
"Dear Nyx;
First off, you need to find out her motives. Are you sure she's doing it just to be popular, or did you just assume?
If you are correct, then here's what you do. Tell her your concerns about this. Maybe you're worried about the pain she'll have to go through, or that she thinks she has to change herself to be cool. Whatever it is, make sure you phrase your sentences to show your concerns, not that you think it's a bad decision.
If she still wants to pierce her nose, you just have to let it go. This girl is still young and has plenty of time to learn that she doesn't need to change herself for others. Although, you should help her find a good place to do it. The least you can do is prevent her from getting infections.
Good Luck!
