I didn't want to rip off Todd In The Shadows, so I made a blog post instead

So, there's a song on the radio right now called "Best I Ever Had" by Gavin DeGraw. It's not a very unique song and it doesn't appear to be noticed by many, but for some reason I'm completely stuck on it. I am in a constant of either completely hating this song, or totally loving it.

Don't get me wrong, this song is very stupid. Sometimes I listen to it and all I hear is the negatives. There's Gavin's weird talking while singing, which completely stops the flow of the song. There's the lyrics which I think are trying to paint a picture of love in modern America through random phrase and trends but just come off as random and disjointed. Not to mention that they give they impression that Gavin forgot he was writing a love song halfway through. And this is supposed to be a love song, right? It seems like it at the start, but the chorus is so blatantly unromantic and towards the end Gavin says he doesn't even know this girl (if you've "had" her, you should probably know her, Gavin) making it hard to tell. This song makes no sense and just doesn't work with message it's trying to convey.

But, on the other hand, it so does. This disjointed lyrics may be weird, but they give of this rough, unpolished feel that I just adore. And the instrumentals of the song are so grand and epic that t the chorus just makes me want to raise my glass and sing along. I can't help be get all excited when he says "Hey Massachusetts" during the bridge. This song is over the top and ridiculous, but it is also a shameless, rowdy anthem and I completely lap it up.

Most of the time.

P.S
If you like reviews of pop song that are kind of like this but better, you should check out Todd In The Shadows because he actually knows what he's doing and I love him.
